Topic Background

When building a demo for a game idea, usually people follow the same path - writing a game description, adding graphics, animations and some interactions to represent their game idea. BUT when turning a demo into a playable game, usually people go different ways: some prefer to focus on the visual aspect of the game, others prefer to devote time on modeling real life effects and so learn more programming, there are those who value the sound effect most and spend a lot of time researching sound effects.

This unit introduces key Flash skills necessary for game development, but you may find that something you want in your game is missing. Here are suggestions on how to find solutions for your game:

A good way to get answers is joining an Online Community and posting a question.

  • Adobe Flash Developer Center - Adobe's Flash Developer Center: Quick Starts, Samples, Downloads and Community discussions.
  • FlashKit - The largest Flash community there is, providing Fla's, tutorial, forums etc'.
  • Flashmove - The flash resource developer community for everyone.
  • UltraShok - Very cool Flash community, but keep in mind: you need a broadband connection to enjoy it!
