We planned our game on July 3rd, 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th.

Rethink Messages in Our Game

1. No matter what school someone goes to, they should always be given an healthy meal.
2. Your health is very important.
3. Stay away from unhealthy foods. Goooooo healthy!
4. You deserve a healthy lunch at school, not mystery food.

Design Plan

How to Play and Point System (and Research)

Player will enter the cafeteria and collect foods from a conveyer belt. Depending on which food is selected, points will be collected. Depending on the level of health of the food, points are assigned. One point is added if the foods are locally grown.

Scenes

Title Scene

1. The title scene of the game is the first screen that we see. It’s really colourful, bright and very inviting. There are cool, tasty, and healthy pictures of fruits as well as a lunch tray in the background of the title screen. To go along with that, we’ll add a conveyor belt to show what the food will be rolling in on in the game. Well have big buttons in the shape of fruits and vegetables. There are buttons named Play, Settings, Options, and Instructions. Also the title of the game is on this screen in big flashy, bright, bubble letters – this is one of the key items of the message that we are trying to prevail to the public that are playing our game. Along with the title of the game, we’ve added a message that explains what we hope for people to get out of this game.

2. In this screen there will be cool sounds that appear when you hit the buttons. For example if you hit the play, it might sound like someone biting into an apple, or the frying sound as if you were cooking. Since this isn’t a level that you have to beat, in order to progress through the game, you have to choose your options like play to actually play the game, or setting to change the colour, or options to change volume etc...

  • Background – The background of the title screen will be filled with fruits and vegetables and bright inviting colours to attract young children and have fun.
  • Character(s) – Not on this screen of the game.
  • Object(s) – The objects on this screen are the fruits and vegetables in the background of the game, a lunch tray that the food will be on, a conveyor that will be food rolls in on, as well as big bubble letters that will display the title of the game.
  • Animation(s) – No animation will be on the title screen of the game.
  • Sound(s) – The sounds will come from the buttons being bitten into because they will be shaped like fruits and vegetables and when clicked on make noise.
  • Button(s) – The buttons will be shaped like fruits and vegetables.
  • Text – The text will be the title of the game, our message, and letters on the buttons of that are shaped like fruits.

Controls Players will have to use the mouse anytime they would like to move or want anything on the conveyor belt.

Music This music will be played through the game.

Volume Players are allowed to change the noise level of the game.

Background Noise This includes kids talking, laughing, and lunch trays hitting the table.


Game Scene

Intro

First

1. This screen will display the whole cafeteria as the student walks into the lunch line. In the cafeteria there will be cool lunch tables, with nice looking chairs and a conveyor belt that the food will roll in on. Also the student/character will be in this scene as well. This student, who is the main character, will walk up into the lunch line and that’s when he goes to grab his lunch will be shown as he attempt to towards to the lunch line.

2. In the first scene when the game stars off, you’ll be in the in the cafeteria with the screen. In order to progress through this portion of the game you’ll have to walk in to the lunch line.

3. List of Assets for this scene:

  • Background – The background of game will consist of a big cafeteria with seats, tables, teachers and students and lunch ladies and men, the kitchen with trays and utensils.
  • Character(s) – Teachers, students, cafeteria workers, and YOU!!!
  • Object(s) – Lunch tables, trays, utensils, food, and also a conveyor belt.
  • Animation(s) – The students will be moving and talking. The conveyor belt will be moving the food, and you will be walking to the lunch line.
  • Sound(s) – School children will be talking and sound like a crowd, the food will be cooking and make sizzling sound, and the forks and knives will make mixing sounds, and last but not least When you walk your character will make stepping sounds with his shoes clicking and clashing on the ground.
  • Button(s) – There aren’t any buttons.
  • Text – There aren’t any text.

Zoom in to: lunch line

1. In this scene you have walked up to the lunch line, and you are getting your tray from the cafeteria workers and at the same time you pick up your fork and knife. The only part of the character that is visible in this scene will be their arms.

2. The only action in this screen is YOU the main character walking up to the lunch line and getting his lunch tray. They will be some background noise of the children in the background of a cafeteria as well as the sound of food cooking in the cafeteria.

3. List of Assets for this scene:

  • Character(s) – Cafeteria workers, students, and YOU!!!
  • Object(s) – Lunch trays, and the lunch counters
  • Animation(s) – you’ll be grabbing your plate as the cafeteria workers and you your plate.
  • Sound(s) – The background noise will be student in the lunch life talking.
  • Button(s) – The lunch tray will be the button and you have to click it to get your lunch tray.
  • Text – Not on this screen.

Zoom farther in to: Conveyor

1. The conveyor belt has food items sliding across it and students are standing in front of it about to get their food

2. Students are choosing their foods that they want to put on their plates. They will be moving down a line. YOU!!! The main character will be standing their, in front of the conveyor belt.

3. List of Assets for this scene:

  • Background – The back ground will consist of the conveyor, and the cafeteria wall.
  • Character(s) - students, cafeteria workers
  • Object(s) – The conveyor belt and food rolling in on it.
  • Animation(s) – The animations will be the conveyor belt moving the food along the line.
  • Sound(s) – The conveyor belt will be making a vroom, vroom type of noise.
  • Button(s) – No buttons here.
  • Text – No text here.

Finally zoom in to: Food Close Up

1. on this screen there will be a close up of the conveyor belt. This will show the conveyor belt close up in detail. This scene will be primarily to show the details of the conveyor belt and the food that is on the conveyor belt.

2. The only action that will be shown on this screen is the conveyor belt moving. As well as that, the food will be moving on the conveyor belt also.

3. List of Assets for this scene:

  • Background – Again, the conveyor belt will be zoomed in on and the whole scene will be shown as the conveyor belt moving with food on it.
  • Character(s) – No characters here on the close up.
  • Object(s) - conveyor belt and food.
  • Animation(s) – The conveyor belt will me moving still with the food rolling in on it.
  • Sound(s) – The conveyor belt will be making a vroom, vroom type of noise.
  • Button(s) – No buttons here.
  • Text – No text here.

Game Scene: Selection

1. In this scene YOU!!! will be able to start picking he food on the conveyor belt. On this scene the food will be rolling in on the conveyor belt. There’s the conveyor belt, the food rolling in on the conveyor belt, and you standing there getting ready to you’re your food.

2. The conveyor belt will be rolling the food in. The food will be chosen by a point and click system. So in order for the character to be able to pick a food up off of the conveyor belt, YOU!!! have to click on the food. When you click on the food your characters arm will move towards the conveyor belt. After his arm moves toward the food, YOU!!! then grab the food and then pick it up and bring it towards your plate.

3. List of Assets for this scene:

  • Background – The background will look just like the back ground in scene 3.
  • Character(s) – The only character will be YOU!!!
  • Object(s) – The food will be moving on the conveyor belt, and YOU!! will be standing there with your plate.
  • Animation(s) – The conveyor belt will be moving with the food on it, and YOU!!! will be grabbing the food off of the conveyor belt and putting it on your plate.
  • Sound(s) – The conveyor belt making moving noise, and then there will be a background noise making wow, or good sounds in that nature when you pick up the good, and health food, and vice versa when you pick up the unhealthy food.
  • Button(s) – The food that you are picking up to put on your plate will be buttons.
  • Text – No text here.


Game play

1. This screen is basically the game. You!!!, the main character will just basically be playing the game based on all of the game scenes that have been described.

2. Based on all of the game screens that have been created and made is really bases for the rest of the game play that will happen.

3. List of Assets for this scene:

  • Background – Is the conveyor belt screen where you pick out your food is the entire background for the game.
  • Character(s) – The only character is You!!!
  • Object(s) – The conveyor belt, the food on the conveyor belt, and the lunch.
  • Animation(s) – The conveyor belt and the moving hands of the character’s moving hands grabbing the food are animated.
  • Sound(s) – The background music is basically elevator music.
  • Button(s) – The food items are the buttons.
  • Text – The text will be the words on the food scrolls.
